Characterization of pottery shard based on stereomicroscopy. The observations takes in consideration the outer part (front), inner part (back) and the cross section of the shard, characterizing the clay matrix, inclusions and other peculiarities.

Regarding the surface: Light grey color, compact, clay particle sintering (same morphological features on both front and back). Presence of irregular incisions.
Regarding the cross sections: Layering (light gray on both surfaces), cream paste in the middle of the section. Homogeneity of the section, different aspect of the other section.
Regarding the inclusions: Distribution is similar in type and size for both surfaces and section. Black, very abundant (more abundant on the back with respect to the front), both spherical and spot-like, generally sub-millimetric, some millimetric, wide size distribution. White semitransparent, subangular, more homogeneous size distribution.
